What Is Lewmar?

Lewmar makes marine equipment including anchoring systems. RoveSpec currently carries conventional boat anchors and electric or manual shallow-water anchoring products from the brand.

A conventional anchor, a windlass, and a shallow-water pole system solve different problems. The correct purchase depends on vessel data, operating area, seabed, water depth, expected conditions, rode, deployment method, mounting structure, and the exact Lewmar model.

What Lewmar Products Does RoveSpec Carry?

RoveSpec carries Lewmar Delta galvanized, DTX stainless, Claw galvanized, and fluke-style anchors, plus Axis electric and manual shallow-water anchor configurations.

How Should You Choose a Lewmar Product?

Start with the anchoring job and the vessel manufacturer’s requirements, then use Lewmar’s current sizing and installation documents for the exact model. Never select from boat length or anchor weight alone.

When Is a Lewmar Delta Anchor Appropriate?

Lewmar describes Delta as a ballasted, self-righting anchor family. Choose the exact galvanized Delta size from current Lewmar guidance for the vessel and intended conditions, then verify the complete ground-tackle system.

The Delta shape is not permission to downsize or omit adequate rode. Confirm bow-roller fit, locker clearance, windlass and rode compatibility, retrieval path, attachment hardware, and the vessel’s strong point before purchase.

05/15

What Is the Lewmar DTX Stainless Anchor?

DTX is Lewmar’s stainless-steel plow-style anchor family. Its finish and construction do not change the need to select the correct mass, inspect the anchor and connections, and follow current sizing guidance.

Lewmar states that DTX uses high-tensile 316 stainless steel and lists a separate breakage guarantee subject to its terms. Cosmetic condition, corrosion behavior, and warranty coverage are not substitutes for sizing, proper ground tackle, or safe anchoring practice.

06/15

How Does the Lewmar Claw Anchor Differ?

Lewmar presents Claw as a one-piece galvanized anchor family. Its geometry, available weights, stowage requirements, and bottom behavior differ from Delta, DTX, and fluke anchors.

Select the exact size using current Lewmar documentation and the boat’s requirements. Verify bow hardware, fluke and shank clearance, rode attachment, deployment, setting technique, and retrieval rather than swapping by nominal weight alone.

07/15

What Should Be Checked for a Lewmar Fluke Anchor?

A fluke-style anchor should be selected for the vessel, intended bottom, expected load, and rode system. A lightweight design can be easier to handle but is not automatically suitable for every seabed or primary-anchoring duty.

Confirm the exact Lewmar model and current instructions, then check stowage, fluke clearance, shackles, chain and line, chafe protection, scope, setting, retrieval, and a secure strong point.

How Should a Lewmar Axis Shallow-Water Anchor Be Chosen?

Choose an Axis electric or manual shallow-water system by supported depth, vessel and mounting structure, available transom space, deployment clearance, power and control requirements, and the exact kit contents.

A shallow-water pole is for supported position-holding use; it is not a substitute for primary ground tackle in deep water or severe conditions. Verify bracket orientation, structural backing, travel and trailering clearance, electrical protection for powered models, and any paired or accessory configuration.

How Should Lewmar Fitment and Sizing Be Verified?

Lewmar fitment is a marine-system decision, not year-make-model fitment. Match the exact product to the vessel, rated structure, operating conditions, ground tackle or controls, clearances, and current Lewmar sizing and installation documents.

  • Record vessel length, displacement, windage, hull and deck construction, bow or transom geometry, and manufacturer restrictions.
  • Define expected wind, current, depth, bottom, scope, swinging room, overnight duty, and local rules.
  • For conventional anchors, verify anchor size, rode type and diameter, connectors, windlass, roller, locker, cleat, and chafe points.
  • For shallow-water systems, verify maximum supported depth, bracket and backing, pole travel, steering and motor clearance, power, controls, and trailering position.
  • Match the complete Lewmar part number, size, material, color, side or configuration, and included hardware.

10/15

Why Do Exact Lewmar Part Numbers Matter?

Lewmar anchor families contain multiple masses and materials, while shallow-water systems contain different power, depth, color, and configuration options. Exact part numbers prevent an unsafe or unusable substitution.

Confirm the manufacturer number on the RoveSpec listing against Lewmar’s current page and manual. Also confirm every interfacing component: rode, connector, roller, windlass, bracket, control, wiring, fuse, and service part.

11/15

What Should Be Confirmed Before Installing Lewmar Products?

Follow the exact Lewmar and vessel instructions, use structure and hardware rated for the expected loads, isolate and seal marine materials correctly, and use a qualified marine installer for powered or structural work when required.

  • Dry-fit the anchor through its complete deploy, set, retrieve, and stow path before finalizing hardware.
  • Confirm structural backing and load paths for rollers, windlasses, cleats, brackets, and powered shallow-water systems.
  • Use approved marine cable, overcurrent protection, terminals, routing, sealing, and isolation for electrical products.
  • Prevent chafe, unintended deployment, interference with steering or propulsion, and water intrusion.
  • Commission controls and test at low risk before relying on the system.

12/15

How Should Lewmar Anchoring Products Be Used Safely?

Use the exact manual, check weather and holding conditions, keep people clear of loaded or moving equipment, maintain control of the vessel, and never exceed the product or vessel limits.

  • Wear appropriate personal flotation equipment and follow local navigation and anchoring rules.
  • Keep hands, feet, clothing, and loose gear clear of anchors, rode, rollers, windlasses, brackets, and poles.
  • Use adequate scope and verify the anchor is set; maintain an anchor watch when conditions require it.
  • Do not use a shallow-water pole outside its stated depth, bottom, load, or environmental limits.
  • Secure all equipment for travel and inspect it after overload, grounding, collision, or severe weather.

13/15

How Should Lewmar Products Be Maintained and Supported?

Rinse, inspect, and service Lewmar anchoring equipment on a schedule appropriate to salt, load, use, and storage. Replace damaged or incompatible system parts before the next deployment.

  • Inspect anchor shape, welds or casting, finish, corrosion, edges, and attachment points.
  • Inspect chain, line, shackles, pins, approved swivels, splices, rollers, windlass, cleats, and chafe protection.
  • Check shallow-water poles, brackets, pivots, fasteners, seals, wiring, controls, and stow locks.
  • Use corrosion protection, cleaning products, lubrication, and replacement intervals allowed by the exact manual.
  • Retain proof of purchase, model and serial information, installation records, and current manuals.

14/15

What Warranty Applies to Lewmar Products?

Lewmar warranty coverage depends on the exact product, purchase, installation, use, proof, region, exclusions, and claim process. Some products or guarantees have separate terms, so verify the current document for the part number.

Do not infer the term from another Lewmar family or from a general brand statement. Damage caused by incorrect selection, installation, corrosion, wear, impact, overloading, modification, or excluded use may be treated differently under the current policy.

15/15
